Getting Started

Read 180 is an instructional program designed to help struggling readers. The program is based around a 90 minute class period, divided into 20 minute sections. The first 20 minutes is dedicated to whole group instruction, the next three 20 minute sections are designed for rotating through three stations (small group instruction, independent reading, and computer instruction,) the final 20 minutes are used to wrap up the class and review the material learned for that day.
Read 180 allows students to work on THEIR reading level, which isn't the grade level they are in. Working with material that is appropriate for their reading level, which is determined by the SRI, keeps students from becoming frustrated and allows them to progress quicker.
